Robbie Leonard
Lawyer
Robbie has spent close to two decades fighting for justice in courtrooms. First, as an Assistant Public Defender, where Robbie tried well over one hundred cases, then, as a private attorney where he has represented children who have been poisoned by lead-based paint, those injured in car accidents and other personal injury matters, and individuals who have been involved in various other legal disputes.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Robbie graduated from Towson University in 2003 with a degree in Political Science. He attended the University of Baltimore School of Law and received a Juris Doctor degree in 2007.
Robbie was promoted to Assistant Public Defender upon graduation from law school. He was known as a fearless trial lawyer who zealously advocated for his clients in district, circuit and juvenile courts in Baltimore City. He also worked on the Public Defender’s government relations team to explain to the Maryland Legislature how proposed laws can impact all of us. Robbie has used his vast experience in criminal defense to become an elite private attorney in Baltimore and surrounding areas.
Since 2012, Robbie has successfully transitioned to civil litigation where he has won several million-dollar verdicts on behalf of lead-poisoned children in Baltimore. He has also regularly won car accident trials in both circuit and district courts throughout Maryland and Virginia. His courtroom success has motivated insurance companies to settle for high dollar figures without the need to go to trial.
Robbie has been named a Super Lawyer for many years, and in 2022, the Daily Record recognized him with a Leaders in Law award. He is also an active member of the Maryland Association for Justice, serving on the Legislative Leaders Circle.
Robbie is an active member of his community and has served as Chair of the Baltimore County Democratic Party, was an alternate delegate to the Democratic National Convention, and a member of the Electoral College. He served as the Secretary of the Maryland Democratic Party from 2018-2022. In 2020 and 2024, Robbie was elected as a Democratic National Committee Member. He also served on the Baltimore County Board of Parks and Recreation from 2014-2018.
In his spare time, Robbie spends time with his family, enjoys running, and coaches youth wrestling, baseball, and soccer.
Robbie is licensed to practice law in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. He is also licensed in the U.S. District Courts for the District of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
